“ It's decent nyonya food in Singapore, I quite like the cabbage roll with, the sambal brinjal, ayam buah keluak and the nyonya chapchye. ”

“ I am very honest, the food was excellent, one of the best peranakan experiences I had in almost 40 years here in Singapore. I really enjoyed the sauces which are executed with a different touch from other peranakan places. One small thing I need to share is that you will be served a small bowl of fermented veggie, delitious but they will charge you $ 5.00 for it wherby you are not told at the start of your meal. I personally think it should be served FOC or at least by informing the guest that it will be charged $ 5.00 ++ Unfortunately the service does a real "disservice" to the cuisine. It started while placing the reservation on the phone. The lady staff seemed abrupt and eager to finish the call urgently, no acknowledgment on my request for a table by a corner, always interrupting the call with "what is your name". At the end of the call I told the lady that she could have been more professional: long silence then came the reply "ok". At the restaurant no smile, no intended explanation of the food when brought to the table, no "enjoy the food". But they were very busy chatting with each other standing behind the counter. A robot would have done a better job. I spoke to Sara the supervisor. I shared with her all the above. She thanked me very politely and gave us a 10% discount which I appreciated. Sara got a lot of work to do in training the staff on the basics of the hospitality. I will be back (surprised?). Well the food is so good that I want to savour other dishes from the menu. Hopefully at my next visit I will experience better service. Today on our second visit my opinion on the food did not change: superb. The service though has improved tremendousely. Well done Sara. We revisited our go-to dishes — Ayam Buah Keluak, Babi Pongteh, and the signature dessert Chendol that’s simply unmissable. The flavours have evolved slightly since our last visit, but each dish remained hearty, well-balanced, and deeply satisfying. “ The serving of food was lighting speed, if you’re hungry and dont wanna wait, this is the place to go! Didnt have reservations, however i dropped by a little after lunch peak on a weekend. The vegetables were done very well. One thing to note the sotong had a small few pieces undercook however taste was awesome! The only sad thing was the curry assam fish head, didnt taste great as what we were all expecting. Curry was homemade for sure , BUT couldnt taste the assam. The fish head wasnt thoroughly clean therefore a fair part tasted fishy. For such a serving the vegetables in the curry (quantity minimal). I suggest do not order the fish head here, the rest are fine. ”

“ A really great meal in a hidden (or at least far from the tourist crowd) gem. Service was really friendly and efficient with the generous and tasty food brought out quickly. I didn't do the ordering so I can't be sure about all the names of the dishes, but there was beef rendang, tofu in spicy peanut sauce, duck in a sweet and fruity sauce, fish cake and then shaved ice with durian pulp. I would definitely recommend this place and would return any time. ”

“ Highly recommend! We loved the 7 out of the 8 items we ordered! Babi Ponteh, Honey Wings, Sotong Hitam, Buah Kuluak Fried Rice, Nonya Curry Chicken, Chilli Brinjal and Beef Rendang were good. Dried Laksa was ok but could be more flavourful. Would definitely come again. ”

“ First time here and had a variety of dishes. Overall, quite impressed with the food. Special mention for the squid in squid ink dish (soft and flavourful), and Babi ponteh (nice chunks of meat in umamilicious sauce). Didn’t quite like the dry laksa as I felt it was too mushy and lacks flavour. Would come back again. ”

“ Just had a very good dining experience at Chilli Padi! The setting is really nice and it looks like they've recently renovated - the ambiance is cozy and inviting. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the Kueh Pie Tee, which was spot on and very authentic - loved the combination of flavors and textures. The Assam Fish was also a highlight, with fresh fish that blended perfectly with the tangy Assam gravy. The Beef Rendang was tender and flavorful, and the Chap Chye was a nice complement to the other dishes. And for dessert, the Chemdol was a refreshing treat! Overall, I'd recommend Chilli Padi for authentic Peranakan cuisine. The service was great too, and the whole experience was top-notch. ”
